Just because you asked…
OSHA has released its recommendations for employers who use Forklifts and other Powered Industrial Trucks. As of September 2013 OSHA wants to inform employers that youth employment regulations (29 CFR 570) disseminated under the Fair Labor Standards Act prohibit most employees under the age of 18 years from operating forklifts for non-agricultural operations.
Total Equipment Training wants to remind employers that all Forklift operators who are 18 years old or older must be trained and qualified as competent to operate forklifts. Too many accidents have occurred in 2013 where under-aged Forklift operators have been injured or killed. Approximately 100 workers are killed, and 20,000 injured, each year in Forklift-related accidents. Only properly trained Forklift operators can be qualified to operate Powered Industrial Trucks. Total Equipment Training provides the needed Forklift training to help workers become qualified.
Total Equipment Training wants to help you keep current on all Safety Issues for heavy equipment operation, as well as Forklift training.
