Just because you asked…..
Congratulations go out to all of the winners at the Great Falls, Montana Annual Snow Rodeo held on September 3-4, 2014. Snow removal equipment operators from around the state gathered to show off their skills. There were four competitions featured: snowplow, front-end loader, backhoe, and motor-grader.
Every year, safety is the major theme of the rodeo. Contestants are required to operate equipment properly and safely at all times, and to demonstrate, through written and diagnostic tests, knowledge of safety and possible hazards. The rodeo is divided into three phases of competition: written test, walk-around diagnostic, and rodeo. Scores are given for each phase, and the contestant with the highest number of total points wins.
The American Public Works Association (AWPA) was one of the sponsors of the Montana Annual Snow Rodeo. This organization is dedicated to educating all of its members on the proper use of heavy equipment used in construction, infrastructure, and civil projects. Total Equipment Training is also dedicated to educating heavy equipment operators. Our training programs include OSHA, ANSI and ASME regulations and standards for all types of heavy equipment, including snow removal machines.
