Heavy Equipment Training- Bobcat Operator Training- Total Equipment Training

OSHA’s subpart C for General Safety and Health provisions require skid-steer operators to be trained under 1926.21(b)(2) and 1926.20(b)(4) requirements. The employer is required to train Bobcat and Skid-Steer operators so that they can recognize and avoid unsafe conditions. Training needs to be comprehensive enough to help assure that the operator is fully capable of safely handling the equipment in the type of conditions encountered at the site. Experience is not sufficient and does not make an employee qualified to be an operator.

How to Become a Qualified Skid Steer/ Bobcat Operator

Only those who are qualified through training or experience are allowed to operate the equipment. Total Equipment Training offers a comprehensive operator program for bobcat/skid-steer operators. Our bobcat skid steer operator training is tailored to individual needs consisting of classroom and practical hands-on training and evaluation. Operators will take both a written and practical evaluation test to show their competency and to provide companies with the written documentation of training required by OSHA.

How Often Do Bobcat/Skid Steer Operators Need to be Retrained?

According to OSHA Standard 29 CRF 1910.178(I)(4), refresher training should be conducted when Bobcat/Skid Steer operators are found to be operating unsafely, involved in an accident or near miss, and when there are changes in equipment or work environment.
