Total Equipment Training – Bulldozer Training
Grading terrain or moving earth and rock is hard work. In addition, operating heavy equipment like a bulldozer comes with a significant amount of responsibility. To ensure any piece of equipment is being operated safely and correctly, your employees should be qualified to operate the equipment. Bulldozer operators who have proper training can help reduce the number of errors and accidents on job sites.
Bulldozer Training for Safety
Safety should always be the top priority of any Bulldozer Operator as getting the job done can only happen when accidents are avoided. For this reason, it’s critical that a bulldozer operator always know their surroundings and they follow proper operator protocols.
OSHA Requirements for Bulldozer Operators
While OSHA does not require a Bulldozer Operator certification, it does, however, require that employers provide their employees with the proper instruction to recognize and avoid unsafe conditions along with the regulations applicable to the specific work environment to prevent any hazards that puts the employees’ wellbeing at risk. (29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2)) Furthermore, employers are only to permit fully trained and competent employees to operate heavy equipment, aside from training purposes. (29 CFR 1910.178(l), 29 CFR 1926.602(d))
